After more than 60 years lost at war, the body of Sergeant Berthold Chastain, an airman with the U.S. Army Air Corps., was returned to Cleveland, TN on Saturday.

Chastain was a tail gunner was on a reconnaissance flight over New Guinea. He and eleven other men faced bad weather and their plane crashed into the mountains. After years not knowing his whereabouts, his daughter, Tulie Swilling, found out about the plane crash in November of last year.

On Saturday, hundreds of motorcycle riders from both the Georgia and Tennessee Patriot Guards, state troopers and the military escorted Chastain's remains to the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.

Chastain's family will hold a funeral service for Chastain on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The soldier was one of 12 people on board an army bomber when it crashed.
